Chewy Chocolate Chunker Cookies

Indulge in these easy to make bakery-style chocolate chip cookies. The best part about making chocolate chip cookies is that you can customize it to your own taste. If you want it a bit of a crunch, add some chopped nuts. You can even mix things up by adding white chocolate chips, or dried fruits to the dough for a unique twist that everyone will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup all purpose flour
  • ½ Tsp baking soda
  • ¼ Tsp salt
  • ½ Cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ Cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ Cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ Cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a stand mixer or mixing bowl add softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar
  • Cream butter and sugar on medium speed for approximately 5 minutes
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and mix until the egg is fully incorporated
  • Sift flour, baking soda and salt directly into the wet mixture
  • Mix the flour into the wet mixture just until all ingredients are incorporated
  • Gently fold chocolate chips into the dough
  • Using a cookie scoop portion the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Loosely wrap the baking sheet with plastic wrap
  • Transfer the baking sheet into the refrigerator and let

Notes

  • The cookie dough should be chilled before baking, chilling the dough for a minimum of 30 minutes will minimize how much the cookies spread when baked.
  • For best results opt for semi sweet or bitter sweet chocolate chips. Milk chocolate chips will result in a cookie that’s too sweet. 
  • After removing the cookies from the oven allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
